format of Conservation Tillage Initiative Program
In an effort to promote soil and water conservation, The
DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering to reimburse
producers $5.00 per acre for first time renters/leasers of conservation tillage
tools.
Qualified Tillage Tools:

Tillage Tools |
 | Rotary
Harrow |
 | Aerway |
 | Strip-Till
Tool Bars |
 | No-Till
Drill rental/lease for wheat and soybeans into 0-till ground. |
Qualifications for Payment:
 | Producer
must be a first time renter/leaser of the conservation tool. |
 | Conservation
tool must be used within
DeKalb
County
. |
 | Leave
65% residue cover in the fall after corn. |
 | Leave
20% residue cover in the spring after planting into soybean stubble. |
 | Leave
60% residue cover after no-till wheat into soybean stubble. |
Note: Producers with highly
erodible fields will need to check with the Natural Resources Conservation
Service to determine if the proposed tillage practice will be in compliance with
the producer’s conservation plan.
Payment Submissions:
Funding is limited and will be disbursed in order of
submission. Payments are limited to
a maximum of $200.00 per farming operation per year. Payment to the producer
will be made after:
 | Filled
out a “Request for Payment” form (must be obtained by calling the DeKalb
County SWCD at (815) 756-3237 ext. 3) |
 | The
DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation District or Natural Resources
Conservation District has verified residue levels on acres tool was used. |
 | The
producer has submitted a paid rental/lease bill showing: date of use, tool
rented, cost per acre, and total acres tool was used. |
 | Reimbursement
request must be submitted by July 15, 2008. |
